LIFE (not biz) Lessons Learnt This Quarter Of 2020

March 2020, The world came to a screeching halt with lockdowns of varying degrees implemented around the world. Death and tragedy enveloping the pandemic taught us about life and how much we take for granted. We are learning many new norms as we continue to maneuver this unprecedented time. The message is clear: We are “alone, but together”. SHOW UP, STAY VISIBLE and MAKE CONNECTIONS even from a distance.

June 2020, The world came to a screeching halt with protests of varying degrees carried around the world. The tragic death of George Floyd has awakened the world to the social injustices around us. We are finally opening our eyes to things that are not new, but as though they are. The message is clear: We are “standing up together”. STAY MUTED, LISTEN, LEARN and MAKE CHANGES.

Over the past few weeks, the emotions have been overwhelming and instead of speaking (for the sake of speaking); I decided to get off of social media and listen instead. Let those with an accurate vantage point and with notoriety, good insight and a positive perspective on the subject; do the talking instead. The messages of change, respect, equality, empowerment and compassion from these thought leaders has been uplifting and something feels different this time!

The resources shared by so many were phenomenal - blogs, books, podcasts, interviews, lists of business to support - it was incredible how it all seamlessly (and quickly) came together.

I have personally taken the time to delve into some of those resources, giving me a platform to channel my energy in the correct direction. To learn and (if need be), unlearn so many facts.

Have you?

We can ALL contribute to a better future because there are NO MORE EXCUSES. Do what you can. It does not have to be on a public platform for a “like" or to be on the bandwagon and echo what others are saying... Make your contribution in any way, (the smallest way)...touching one person, changing one mindset or simply TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN to build a better world.

Namaste.

‘I have hope’ is what he drew.

No, my child, YOU are hope!
