Covid Diaries: The True NYC Grit - We Will Persevere!

Dear Diary,

I drove into NYC today to see some of my jewelry friends. Those, that silently work behind the scenes and help me make the magic.

The streets were empty, the store fronts were shuttered and the silence was deafening. I waited in my car, feeling the stillness around me on a street which is otherwise bustling with the thousands (making millions)It was heart wrenching to think how much this industry has suffered (and will continue to endure) even when things open up

Then, my jeweler stopped by...he had his mask on and from 6 feet away I could see his smiling eyes!

My diamond dealer came downstairs to his lobby and waved. He gave me a big thumbs up, letting me know that we’re going to be OK!

My chain vendor shouted pleasantries across the street and asked about my son...he said very soon he will have babkas for me to bring home!

I couldn’t help up but tear up; overwhelmed by the sweetness of the human spirit - and HOPE

Hope. Hope. Hope.

It was not so much the words we exchanged but the spirit we all shared in our few (distant) moments together. It conveyed a shared mission to PERSEVERE because that’s the only way to be!! There is no alternative to hard work. To show up. To be the best versions of ourselves.

THE TRUE NYC GRIT!!
